COVID-19 Medical Supply Fundraiser

Our first project began during the summer of 2020 when cases of COVID-19 were spiking all over the world. The number of cases was so high in the US, that the hospitals were not able to take care of all the infected patients as they simply didn’t have the capacity in the hospitals. As a result, medical supplies to prevent the spread of the virus was running low. At the time, Hong Kong wasn’t as badly affected, and the spread of the virus was controlled. Therefore, we decided to start a fundraiser to raise money to buy medical supplies to donate to medical workers in the US.

We decided to raise money through a raffle, with the prize being a pair of AirPod pros. The raffle was open to the public, and during the span of a week, we were able to raise HKD $5,000 through family and friends.

Using the money raised, we split the money in order to buy masks, mask supporters, and hand sanitizers.

We were able to get 1,000 mask supporters, 3,300 masks, and 40 Liters of hand sanitizer.

We then had to figure where and to who we were going to give these supplies. We found an organization called GetUsPPE who helped us find a destination for our supplies. After a few days of figuring out how we were going to cover shipping costs, we were able to donate the supplies to a nursing home in Seattle - Kline Galland.
